Bangladesh Launch a New Award with Money Prize

The Bangladesh government is set to introduce an international peace award named after the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Cabinet has approved the draft for the “Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Peace Award Policy, 2024.”

Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain announced that the award will be presented biennially under a single category, consisting of USD 100,000 and a 50g, 18-carat gold medal. This award can be bestowed upon any individual, organization, or institution from Bangladesh or anywhere in the world in recognition of their contributions to establishing peace. The award is slated to launch in 2025.

The members of the jury board for this award have not yet been finalized. Nominees for the award can be proposed by individuals who have received the Nobel or other international peace awards, as well as governments, heads of state, or members of parliament from any country.
