Although the weather forecast had hinted at the chance of rain, Dhaka remained parched and dusty throughout the day, despite rainfall occurring in other parts of Bangladesh. However, late at night, the much-awaited rain finally arrived, accompanied by thunderstorms.
The downpour, which was particularly heavy in areas like Old Dhaka, Jatrabari, and Mirpur, brought relief to residents who eagerly welcomed the refreshing change in weather. In Mirpur-12, people were seen rejoicing and embracing the rain, reminiscing about their childhood memories associated with rainy days.
Residents expressed their gratitude for the respite from the oppressive heatwave that had gripped the country for 33 days, culminating in record-high temperatures. For many, like Taslima Begum and Surma Begum, the rain was a long-awaited relief from discomfort and sleepless nights.
As soon as the rain began, residents like Ekram Hossain seized the opportunity to immerse themselves in its soothing embrace, anticipating a drop in temperatures. Weather expert Monowar Hossain confirmed the likelihood of widespread rain across Dhaka, bringing much-needed relief and lower temperatures in the following days.
Additionally, reports of heavy rain were also received from Rupganj in Narayanganj and Madhabdi in Narsingdi.
